It’s a nice Indonesian restaurant, with good tasting food and decent price. There are quite a number of Indonesian food selections. We tried the chicken satay, lamb, duck, calamari and the veggie rice cake. They were all nice, but we found them a tad too salty. But other than that, I would recommend this place for authentic Indonesian food.

The Sambal Restaurant offers the closest thing to authentic Indonesian cuisine you can find outside of Indonesia. Their rendang is a true standout – it's easily the best I've had in Sydney. The flavours are rich, the meat is tender, and the spices perfectly balanced. Every bite is a delightful journey through Indonesian culinary traditions. The overall dining experience at The Sambal is a treasure trove of bold and vibrant flavours, and the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service make it even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of Indonesian cuisine, The Sambal Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. It's a gem in the heart of Sydney, offering an exceptional taste of Indonesia."

Truly Indonesian original, very very delicious. If you want to find original spice of Indonesian in Sydney down town area, this is highly recommended place. We ordered Fried Duck and Padang Sauce Fish. It was the right choice. Fried duck comes with green chilli Sambal, very tasty very original. The fish is also very delicious 👌 They provide self service variety of Sambal with the right spicy and ingredients. Well done The Sambal 👏👏👏

Really love the place. The spice actually symbolizes the authentic taste of Indonesia. According to the price, the food was really good. Again, they also served different types of sauces for free.

Rustic and no nonsense Indonesian restaurant. Food is quite decent and service ok. It can be a little cramped but otherwise vibes good. Skewers were quite good. Chicken is tender and juicy with nice satay though not spicy. Beef pieces were a bit mixed in tenderness but the sweet soy sauce was nice. 12 for $32 is actually quite good value for the city. The beef short rib was tender and flavoursome though didn't have much distinct indo flavour. $22 is ok though it wasn't very big. The sambal squid similarly well cooked with a tasty sambal but small at $22. The mie goreng was quite small and without much toppings for $14.5. Surprisingly spicy.

Order on your phone and food is delivered to the QR code (on the table) you scan and order from. My opinion and review come from a place Natives of Syndey wouldn't understand. Halal food is not so common in many states in the US and much less Indonesian food, I am more likely to find Thai food or even Korean food but not Indonesian. That with the added fact that duck and wagyu are almost never found as halal options in the states unless you have money to burn makes this visit for me great. It had Indonesian music playing, a small table and small seats tropical vibe, the staff were mostly in the back cooking with two ladies working on delivering the food and checking in on and order pickups. No free wifi so if your traveling you need to use your own slow data or have purchased a data plan. Ordering food and delivery to the table was pretty fast, I'd say about 10ish minutes. I ordered the fried rice spicy with fried egg and beef meatball and this wagyu dish which was a lot bigger than I was expecting. Bought some to go white rice afterwards. Food was good and I was hungry so it tasted even better because of that. Meat was stewed and tender and ooh so worth it. Wasn't too expensive but I believe it was worth the cost.

The food at this Indonesian restaurant feels quite homey. During lunch, it can get a little crowded. The service is pleasant and the ambience is enjoyable. A brief stroll from Town Hall.

I was looking for Iga bakar (grilled beef ribs) this whole rime in Sydney, I’ve been trying on other restaurants as well, but this iga bakar here was amazing as I expected. Other dishes that I order were delicious. Also, I was surprised that I didn’t wait for long for the food, it’s like only 10 mins the food were ready to eat. Other than that, they were so friendly. Overall, it’s a great experience, I will come back!
